Multi-Billion-Dollar Pet Food Fraud: Hiding In Plain Sight by Dr Tom Lonsdale is set to be published next month, it has been revealed.
The book, which will be released in late April 2023 through publisher Rivetco, is described as a hard-hitting expose of ‘junk pet food’ manufacturers, and the veterinary schools and practices which support them.
Across 12 chapters and more than 400 pages, Dr Lonsdale uncovers how the organisations, institutions and appointed representatives dedicated to pet health and welfare can’t be trusted to do their job.
Based on more than three decades’ research, the book explains how the highly processed canned and kibbled pet food we feed our dogs and cats is not beneficial to their health as promoted but, instead, is responsible for a global pet illness epidemic, costing pet owners billions in endless trips to the vet and pets their happiness and lives.
It shows how highly processed ‘junk pet food’ causes a host of ailments from gingivitis and gum disease to potentially life-threatening illnesses such as heart disease.
Multi-Billion-Dollar Pet Food Fraud highlights how, despite this, pet food manufacturers continue to use unscrupulous tactics to dominate the market in the name of profit and work to ‘control the science’ through governmental lobbying and university partnerships.
Dr Lonsdale, the raw meaty bones diet pioneer, also highlights why raw meaty bones are the essential nutritional and medicinal food every pet dog and cat needs for optimal health.
Now retired after a distinguished five-decade veterinary career, Dr Lonsdale has written the book not only to alert pet owners to what he says is a global fraud of epic proportions, but also vets and other pet professionals, animal welfare lawyers and researchers.
